Personal Projects

I want to try everything...

...But I don't want to make everything my job. While I am proud of all of these projects, I'm not exactly pursuing careers in academic-thesis-writing or animation-character-designing, so it doesn't make sense to put them next to all my marketing, graphic design, and podcasting work. (Though if my life does veer in that direction, I might move a couple things to my portfolio!)

Instead, here's a page for everything I do just to learn, get creative, and have fun.

I Think, Therefore I Brand: An Interdisciplinary Analysis of Self-Branding

Academic Work | May 2024

My undergraduate thesis, written as my final assignment for the Emerson College Honors program. If you're still wondering why I combined my professional and personal websites into one, I'd recommend skimming this paper.

The DPops Wiirangement

Orchestral Arrangement (Minor Role) | February 2024

An orchestral medley of music from the Nintendo Wii, which I helped arrange. I worked with Liam Barthelmy, one of the Yale Davenport Pops' head arrangers (and the love of my life!) to come up with smooth transitions between each song included, drawing upon my background in mashup-making. Then I helped with stage set-up before and after the performance, because of course I did.

Monsters On Set

Short Film | April 2023

An animated short film I conceptualized and co-produced. Alongside several behind-the-scenes production roles (see here for details and examples of marketing materials), I was a character designer, color designer, and script editor for the final product as seen below. Notably, I was not an animator; you can thank our wonderful animation team for that. This short film won Outstanding Animated Program at the 2024 EVVY awards!

Various Mashups

Music | Ongoing

I run a YouTube channel where I post music mashups! I don't upload to it as often as I used to, but when I get the chance, I'd like to fix up and post a few WIPs I have laying around. I like to use samples from whatever genres and sources come to mind, regardless of context; if they sound good together, I'll put them together. For example, the mashup below combines "Break My Heart" by Dua Lipa, a current-day pop song with 1970's/80's inspirations, with "The Chemical Worker's Song," a 1960's folk/labor song— very different contexts, but oddly similar melodies.
